I mean, she did, a little. I kind of wondered if I'd fucked up by not bringing it up? I don't know. Like I said, I'm bad at this. She sort of... pushed me to say something. Little sisters, right?
[Soeki looks back at him, not wavering on this.] She's not pushing me into this relationship, Oliver. Seriously. I don't do things I don't want to.
I'm... happy. I like spending time with you. I just come from two different single dads, never had much luck with dating, and have no idea how to do a relationship.
[The answer reassures him, eases his concerns. Soeki might not know much about being in a relationship, but that's where Oliver's most comfortable. He knows what he wants there. He understands how they're supposed to work. He likes the familiarity, the reassurance he's not competing with anyone else. That someone likes him enough to be willing to take that step with him.]
We just keep doing what we have been doing. [He grins, leaning his head affectionately against Soeki's.] Maybe you could take me out to dinner every now and then.
[Oliver was never competing with anyone else, not really. Soeki tends toward the casual, but he manages exclusivity pretty well. This is... just another extension of that. Maybe it doesn't have to be terrifying.
He breathes out a little laugh, forehead pressed against Oliver's, kissing him briefly around his smile.] We'll have to go out for dinners early like old people, at like, 4 pm or some shit, otherwise they won't let me in the restaurant. Are you prepared to early-bird-special it with me?
Duly noted. [He takes Oliver's hands in his as he laughs, shaking his head. This was... Talking about it is strangely a weight off his chest, and he feels a little lighter. A little more sure. Maybe he won't fuck this up.] Does it really count as our first date? We've been to brunch already. And I've made you pancakes.
[He gives him a look, taking advantage of his free lower hands to loosely hold Soeki as well as his hands, fingers brushing just underneath his hoodie.]
[He smiles at that, pleased with the position. Holding two of his hands in his, feeling the other two hands at his waist, brushing skin beneath the hem of his hoodie, it's nice. There are a few advantages to being a faerie at least.]
Okay. They don't count. I'll find a good place for our first date.
[It feels like he has too many hands a lot of the time, but this is nice. Right now it feels like an ideal amount.]
Good. Make sure you reserve early. I want time to thank you properly after.
[By thank he means blow him. In case his tone doesn't imply that already the tongues in the hands on Soeki's back dart out briefly, just barely wetting the skin.]
[He never thought he'd think this, but it's a good amount of hands. It feels weirdly right, weirdly good. He's- happy. Stuck in monster hell, and he manages to be happy.
And then he feels two smaller tongues flick out and just barely brush his back, and golden eyes widen in surprise. Good surprise, though. Enticed surprise.] Oh. This Friday? I will schedule well in advance of sunset. [That answer came too quickly to mean anything but 'yes, I'm into this'.]
[Soeki is too, most definitely. Excited, a little nervous, those good first date feelings he's not sure if he's ever really experienced before. Considering what's passed for a relationship in his life...]
Friday. Perfect. [He smiles a little wider, leans in for a brief kiss.] I joke but I'm really gonna make sure it's a good first date. I promise.
[Clumsy, but sweet, and good, and- He's kissing his boyfriend now.]
Same, you know. I like being around you. [And then suddenly he laughs, squeezing Oliver's hands.] How the fuck did we manage this in Ryslig, of all places?
[Soeki's laughter's infectious, and he squeezes his hands back.]
We have good friends. That's how we managed this.
[Oliver's smile doesn't fade as such, but it does become more serious.]
You know... after I started turning into a shade, I didn't think anyone would even want to sleep with me. Let alone actually be with me. So... you know. [He gives his hands another squeeze.] Thank you. For giving me a chance.
Ain't that the truth. [And then his smile sobers a little as well, though it doesn't leave his face, or lose any of its warmth.]
Oliver. I'm not with you because of, or despite any of your changes. I don't care what the fog god does to you. I'm attracted to you, and I like the way I feel when I'm with you. If anything, you're the one who gave me a chance.
I'm not 'most guys'. And anyway, those times were plenty exciting. [Well, someone had to have the ideas. He was pretty determined to make it happen at the time.] Believe me, I've had no complaints in that department.
[He's definitely made that joke before, but he grins wide and waggles his eyebrows anyway. That dumb grin is contagious and adorable.] Damn right I like having you inside me.
[He thumbs over Oliver's hands idly, just enjoying the touch of skin, and shakes his head.] Nah, that's not weird. I kind of do too. Not enough that I'd ever wish shade back on you, but you know.
It was pretty hot. [He hadn't known what to think at first, and he definitely prefers the freedoms faerie offers over shade, but being intimate with someone through possession had been special. Even back when their relationship hadn't been serious it had felt good that someone trusted him enough to let him do that to them.
He leans his head against Soeki's, guiding his hands so he places them around him instead.]
I had told you it would be. [He laughs quietly, more than content to wrap his arms around Oliver instead of holding his hands.]
Me too. I like it a lot better. [Not that it hadn't been a special kind of thrill, to let Oliver possess him and do what he wanted, but being able to hold him all the time, to reach out and share casual, unplanned touches... It's a lot better, and Oliver is happier as a faerie. That's what counts.]

[The mention of pushing has him a little worried though. He frowns slightly, looking at him carefully.]
You want this, right?

I already feel old compared to most people here. You'll have to dress up fancy, make it seem like we're going for an actual night out.
no subject
Sure, I'll wear my best suit and tie to take you to the Country Buffet at 4pm. We'll be the snazziest couple of old men there.

[It's a good job Soeki has more creative thoughts about shade abilities than he does.]

[He has the dumbest grin. He's probably made that joke before.
He bites, his lip, contemplating before he says the next thing.]
Is it weird that I mind of miss that?
