[He starts to lean forward, intending to kiss him. Realizing he's misjudged the situation throws him off though, and he stops to look at him, confused and a little embarrassed at the conclusion he jumped to.]
[Soeki leans in to meet him and steals a kiss anyway, still smiling, a little embarrassed himself maybe.]
Believe me, I am all for that, it is totally on the agenda, but- [He's never said no outright to sex. Ever. But he wants to get this out of the way first. He reaches down to take one of Oliver's hands in his and tug him out to the living room.] Okay, box or surprise first?
[Oliver allows himself to be led, kind of nervous now. It's a gift, so it can't be a bad thing, but the way Soeki's behaving is weird. He can't help it. He has no idea which option to choose.]
I don't know. What were you planning on giving me first?
[He's nervous, is what it is. Soeki always gets strange when he's nervous; he doesn't mean to, but it's hard to help. This is a big step. Not marriage proposal big, but here it might as well be, almost. He laughs sheepishly and hands him the box first.]
[The slippers might have been a bigger hit if Oliver wasn't already anxiously going over the options of what the surprise might be.
There's no way Soeki's proposing, but that doesn't stop the idea flashing through his mind. Maybe it's Fourth related. Or he thinks their love life is getting stale and he wants something more exciting.
His first instinct upon opening the box is to try and get clues from it in case they're related. Doing that, the slippers raise even more concerns.]
[He laughs sheepishly, running a hand through his hair and leaning on his elbows.]
I'm sorry, I fucked this all up, no that was supposed to like, break the ice I guess. I'm not good at surprises and honestly I've been kind of nervous about it?
I really like you. I love you. I think things are going really well, and I was wondering... Do you want to move in together? Either here, or we could get a new place?
[When he says yes, it's a huge relief. Not that he really, legitimately thought that Oliver would say no and break up with him or anything like that, but still, he'd been nervous about the outcome. When Oliver laughs, Soeki does too, winding his arms around his waist and hugging him close.]
Let's do it then. Do you want to stay here, or find a new place together? I wasn't sure, otherwise I was going to like, give you the keys to an apartment and ask like that, which probably would have been more romantic but...
Yeah, but I want to be like hey, surprise! You're moving! And have you get pissed about that, because it could have been a dick move. [It was a move that either would have been taken really well, or really poorly. He didn't take the risk.
He's all too happy to return that kiss, bringing a hand up to the back of his neck to run his fingers through the fluff there.] Thank god, because no offense, your place is small. Half the time, I am not.
I wouldn't have been pissed. I've actually dated someone who was like "hey, surprise! I'm moving in." It made me really happy, but keys to a new place at least gives more opportunity to say no if I'd wanted. Which I wouldn't have.
[He's excited about the move already.]
Though I'm not going to complain about the chance to get to look at new places with you. It'll make it special.
To be fair, 'moving in' isn't the same thing as 'hey, I got us a whole new apartment without so much as consulting you about what color curtains you want'. [He was just remembering that Oliver hadn't liked it when Connor had essentially decided for them that they would move across the country. To a different neighborhood in Bavan is hardly across the country, but still.]
I think it'll be better this way. It'll be our place.
[He grins, kissing him quickly one more time before he stands up, hurrying over to sort through the small pile of gifts he has under the tree. He obscures something small behind his back, taking a bigger parcel which he hands over to Soeki as he takes his seat again.]
[Soeki can't help the quiet laugh as Oliver has to amend his time estimate. Not being able to lie is probably hard, but the little hiccups like that are adorable. When he returns, he takes the box, grinning wide and leaning in for another kiss first.] Merry Christmas.
[And then peels off the paper and opens it with an undeniable glint in his eyes. Look, everyone likes presents.]
[He kisses him back, but only briefly, wanting to see Soeki's reaction. He's nervous. It's not as good a present as Soeki's to him, but he wants him to like it. Inside the package is a mixture of clothes, suitable for both his day and larger night forms.]
Jade made them. And helped design them. I wanted them to be things you actually liked.
[Which means they're pretty gothy, but Oliver's input has probably toned most of them down a bit.]
[When he opens the box, and looks through the clothes inside, his smile just widens, brightens. He's a grown man who would probably still dress like a Hot Topic ad if he wasn't trying to be a grown man (with a boyfriend), but the blacks and reds and gothic touches are present, even though he could have gotten Soeki anything and he would have worn them. More than clothes, it's a subtle gesture that claims acceptance.
Soeki throws his arms around him and hugs him tight.] Thank you. Seriously, I love them. I love you.
[Oliver grins as he wraps three of his arms around him. He trusts Jade's judgement, but it's still good to know Soeki likes them. He's a little unsure about most of them himself and even after knowing Soeki all this time he doesn't quite feel like he fully understands what he would and wouldn't wear.]
I love you. And I think you're really going to love your next gift...
[Luckily he's toned down in his old age, and mostly gone are his band shirts and skinny jeans, so most of his goth aesthetic shows through in his color choices - usually blacks, reds, and greys.
He laughs a little at the next comment.] There's more?
Oliver smiles widely at the comment, pulling back slightly without letting go so he can look at him as he pulls the mistletoe from behind his back and holds it up.]

Yes. Obviously. I'd love to live with you.

[He's happy with this option though. Thrilled actually. He pulls his head back to kiss him.]
I kind of want somewhere different. It would be nice to live somewhere we picked out together.

[He takes the time to kiss him again, wanting to show his appreciation.
His own gift isn't anywhere near so special, and it's starting to sink in that whatever he gives him now is sure to be a disappointment.]
...I didn't get you anything that good.
no subject
Oliver, you said yes. That's all the gift I needed.

Saying yes still isn't a good gift.
